War II: Battle I: Lyme vs ME

I’m calling this War II with Lyme, War I lasted two and a half years, I won and had eighteen months of pure peace. Now, I am in War II against these pesky, not so friendly, bacterias.

Walking into the clinic, ALL the Lyme markers were positive, which is rare. The CDC has very stringent criteria for a “positive” Lyme based on immune system antibodies only which results in a lot of CDC negative patients that have Lyme with a compromised immune system not making the antibodies. My lyme tests (both antibodies and Lyme proteins) all CDC positive!

CDCLyme

With everything positive, they immediately started a two week round of IV doxycycline. It is the most common antibiotic but surprisingly, I never used it via IV in War I.

The two weeks were largely uneventful, which is good I suppose but it’s hard to tell if anything is happening when you don’t feel it. BUT according to my nurse, if she’s doing her job well I shouldn’t have long, extreme herxheimer reactions. I was very tired, I could sleep all day, every day, but otherwise I didn’t have any of the side effects I had last time around (pain, nausea, vomiting, etc.). They are constantly checking my brain chemistry, nutrient levels, toxin levels and immune system markers. With each lab, everything can be adjusted through supplements, IVs and alternative treatment!

At the end, my labs showed great progress!! Still not gone, but reduced IGGs!

On to the next kill round!!
