Diagnosis to Recovery

Packed….but not ready

After two months of preparation and planning, the time has actually come to get on the plane with all of the stuff I can fit into two bags, and move to Baltimore.

It feels like yesterday when I got the diagnosis of Lyme disease and wondered what I was going to do and how I was ever going to feel better but now I think I’m on the path to recovery.

The weekend seems like a blur – getting picked up at the airport, rushing to the new apartment to sign lease documents, running outside to flag down my father, unpacking two cars worth of stuff, then unpacking another car load of stuff, unpacking everything and then finally having a nice dinner with Nathan, his parents and my dad.

Sunday wasn’t much better – wake up get the usual, get to stop number 1 load truck full of 2/3 apartment furniture then drive downtown to stop number 2 to grab the remaining 1/3 of furniture then head back to the apartment and figure out how to get everything upstairs with a tiny elevator. Get everything situated and cleaned and basically go to bed.

I am very type a and can’t handle boxes not unpacked so within 36 hours of landing Baltimore I had moved everything in, bought furniture and moved it in, cleaned the whole place and unpacked all boxes and suitcases. Exhausting.

I had no idea what today would bring with the start of my appointments. The doctor at Johns Hopkins did just what everyone warned me about – the test results were not quite CDC regulations so he won’t treat me. Everyone kept telling me about this controversy, about main stream medical not treating the people who need it and as a very logical person – wanted to believe in the medical community. But today if failed me. Luckily I am also a very skeptical person and I also booked a Lyme iterate doctor for Thursday. Hopefully I will have better luck there…
