No one likes moving, it’s a giant headache of packing, unpacking, cleaning, more cleaning and of course physically moving everything.
Suddenly, temporarily moving is so much worse. Finding a short term lease, that I can afford while still paying my current lease. Moving cross country on a plane = 2 checked bags. Finding an apartment while not physically living there. Figuring out how to outfit an apartment quickly, inexpensively and only bringing checked bags. Trying to figure out the good vs bad neighborhoods in Baltimore.
What a nightmare. So many new twists to moving that make it just that much worse. Someone suggested posting on the Baltimore subreddit about locations and privately owned property which I think Nathan is doing today. Hopefully we get a few hints or leads on either apartments, areas or realtors.
My biggest challenge right now, is figuring out what we will sleep on! Beds are not easy to transport, certainly don’t fit on a plane and no family close enough to borrow from. We could buy a new one but I don’t have the money for that. We could just use an air mattress but for 3+ months that would be awful. Possibly we can find a nice futon that we could use? I’m out of ideas. Lots of furniture is easy to buy off Craigslist for great prices, mattresses are not one of them.
I have 6 weeks until I move and 5 weeks before Nathan will be in Baltimore to look at the apartment options. So much to do before then!
