While there are many things that I do for treatment, both natural and pharmaceutical, there are also many things I do for an overall healthy lifestyle. I don’t think of these as treatment, although they do keep me healthier, but as adjustments anyone can make for a healthier lifestyle. For those that are struggling with an illness, I highly recommend as many of these lifestyle changes that you can. As our bodies have more to deal with on a daily basis, the more we can adjust our environment to allow our body to focus internally, the better! - Food
- Juicers are a lifesaver, or actually The Omega slow-masticating juicer helps make sure I continue to get 6-8 servings of vegetables a day. Vegetables are hard for me to digest but the slow-masticating juicer has allowed me to get the vegetable nutrients without the stomach issues of raw veggies. Be careful on the juicer you choose to make sure that it doesn’t strip out all of the nutrients and leave you with only sugar water.
- Food Testing and Diet Adjustment can be a life saver! The combination of the three tests below has taken me to the best state my body and stomach have been in over a decade.
- GenoPalate tests your DNA for genetic clues to the food puzzle. It lists which foods are best based on your genetics, what foods to avoid and, my favorite part, it gives the ratio of carbs to fats to protein that best suits your genetics.
- Viome tests your gut’s microbiome for bacteria, viruses, enzymes and additional players in your gut right now. This test is a point in time and can be redone, but gives you a 90 day plan of what to eat, how much of it to eat and in what portions to eat them. It is a two step process, first 45 days is more strict and then the second 45 days starts to reintroduce some of the foods and changes the list of what is best for your gut during that time period.
- IGG Food Allergy test tests your body’s immune response to food. It does not mean that your stomach or gut dislikes the food, but your immune system does and that can make responses show up in strange ways, far outside of the digestive system.

- Movement is important for everyone, but especially for those with illness, even small movements, to keep the digestive system, lymphatic system and everything else functioning.
- Yoga trapeze is an amazing tool for spinal traction, working out for any experience level or energy level and, well, just having fun.
- Yoga wheel is a tool for yoga but also for spine flexibility. Any tool that makes movement fun, is worth it!
- Trampoline (or rebounder) can be used for light exercise, aerobic exercise or for light lymphatic drainage. As a lymphatic drainage tool, it only takes 10 minutes to stimulate the lymphatic system for detox and immune health.
- Bemer Mat is one of the best PEMF mats that helps with circulation. It helps with my joint pain, muscle weakness and digestive system. Message me if you want info on how to buy one, unfortunately you can’t just buy online.
- Massage is ideal for anyone that isn’t able to move much on their own. It is not the relaxing appointment you’d want it to be if you have nerve pain and muscle weakness but it can allow your body to circulate and move without having to move yourself.
- Detox
- Infrared Sauna sessions are great for sweating, circulation and getting rid of toxins. This has been one of my top three tools to stay healthy!
- Ionic Foot Detox is a great to detox by pulling toxins out through your feet using the attraction of positive and negative ions.
- Dry Brushing is ideal for targeted lymphatic drainage. You can find great videos on how to use the brush for optimal results.
- Water Quality
- What is in your tap water is the first question to answer to increase your water quality. I was astonished when I learned the number of contaminants that were above FDA regulation that the city just paid fines on instead of fixing.
- Whole House Water Filter System is ideal if you own your house and are able to install a whole system. It makes every tap, filtered, pure water. This system removes chemicals, antibiotics and a host of other impurities while keeping the good minerals. It also had salt free softner and a UV light add ons.
- Countertop Water Filter is ideal for rented homes or spaces that you can’t install a whole house filter. The Berkey has many sizes to fit any need and has mulitple filters to choose what needs to be filtered from your water.
- GO Travel Water Filter Bottle is a must have for anyone concerned about water quality on the go or traveling. I took my GO travel bottle with me to Peru and Mexico and had no problem drinking the tap water!
- Air Quality
- Air Purifiers keep the air you breath as uncontaminated as possible. Mold, viruses, dust, pet dander can all impact your immune system so I make it a priority to have clean air.
- Essential Oil Diffusers help with a variety of moods and ailments based on the scent but I have learned to never enter a room without them.
- Room Diffuser
- Car Vent Diffuser
- Travel Diffuser for hotel rooms makes such a difference in just hours.
- Jewelry Diffusers you can find all over Etsy, find your style and rock it with a great essential oil blend!
- HEPA Air Filters for the house that show up at my door every 3 months makes sure, with my air purifiers, that the air is a clean as possible.
- Masks have become something of a topic since COVID-19 began but I have been wearing them on planes and airports for years. While the air on planes is pumped in fresh often, there is still a high likelihood of mold and the probability of getting sick from another passenger within a couple rows is so high, I don’t take the chance.
- Chemical/Fragrance Free Household
- Plastic Free can be a hard switch to make, it took me almost three years to get where I am because I decided to make a gradual transition but now that I am almost completely transitioned, I would never go back. Not only am I missing out on all of the chemicals in plastics, the glass storage replacements are so much easier to clean and keep nice! Plastic wrap was the second hardest part for me to transition but I’ve been using beeswax based food wraps and they hold up better in the fridge! My last item to replace of plastic if sandwich bags, any recommendations appreciated!
- Cleaning products have been part of my entire life. My mother never used chemicals in the house for cleaning or laundry products. Shaklee has been a big part of my journey and I highly recommend the company as a whole but especially the cleaning products.
- Hand Soap not only contains harmful chemicals but smelly fragrances that linger. Natural hand soap can have essential oil fragrance or just be unscented and do the same job.
- Candles are a love of mine but it is so hard to find candles what don’t make me sick from the fragrance. Be mindful that the candles are burning into the air and whatever they are made of you are breathing in. I haven’t found a brand that I trust enough to post here but I have a custom essential oil and beeswax candle on its way from an Etsy store that I will keep you posted on!
- Bug Spray is so hard to find without chemicals! This essential oil based spray or stick is fantastic! I use it myself and for all my family and friends (and their kids).
- Technology
- Blue Light Blocking Glasses help when you spend any time on screens but the more time spent on screen, the more need the for the glasses. There are a wide spectrum of blocking that you can find, but I use the highest blocking (yellow/amber) tint and it helps with my sleep schedule, alertness and concentration.
- EMF Phone Case is largely debated on it’s usefulness but I spend my entire day on my cell phone with headphones attached an I noticed a slight reaction my body was having the more I held my phone so I broke and got the case. I can’t speak to the science but I can tell you it helped my hands tremor less.
- EMF Headphones are a recent addition for me but I was getting terrible tinnitus after long work days that I figured I’d try and haven’t had tinnitus since so it was worth the gamble.
Overall, it is deciding which healthy techniques you can add without large shifts in life or drops in quality of life. For me switching out my headphones was a vanity hit but overall worth it for me. Those decisions are very personal but I hope I gave you some things to think about 🙂
