Diagnosis to Recovery

Decision of Doctors

So after many hours and now weeks of research on Lyme and doctors I come to a decision and very little information to make the decision with. I want to do both traditional antibiotic treatment and at the same time I want an alternative doctor to help with other treatments like vitamin c infusion and strong probiotics. When looking for an alternative doctor I want one that is familiar with Lyme and they call these doctors Lyme Literate MDs (LLMD). It is very very hard to get names of these doctors because they don’t want the wrath of the board certification harming them.

A whole separate topic is why the heck the board of medicine is after these doctors when MDs outside of hospitals do questionable things all of the time!

Anyways, I found an online support group that showed me a website that I could enter my information, diagnosis and request information on LLMDs in a specific location and then they would email me a list of names with contact phone numbers. Feels like a secret society! Once I got the list I then researched where the doctors were, reviews and chose the top 2 and contacted them. As I am going to Johns Hopkins I want to make sure, before I pay the ridiculous $500-$700 initial appointment fee, they are willing to work alongside Johns Hopkins. Since I am not allowed to post doctors names we will call them Dr. SL and Dr. LE.

I have sent an email to Dr. SL talking about vitamin C infusions, amino acids and probiotics alongside Johns Hopkins and Dr. SL replied and is willing to work with those conditions and to call the office to set an appointment. There was no email for Dr. LE so I called the office to ask my questions. The receptionist said she was sure that the doctor WOULD work with it but didn’t see why I was going to Johns Hopkins.

From what I understand most medical institutions won’t treat Lyme without positive results. Mine were positive so I want to at least try the traditional route. I understand it may not work but for people that test positive, it must work some of the time or there wouldn’t be a medical standard for it.

So now I am left to decide between these two doctors. I started trying to find reviews, but we all know who actually goes on to make reviews – generally people who are angry. I found a few of reviews on DR. LE, most not great reviews, but some glowing reviews, ranging from 2009 to 2011. Dr. SL I could only find 2 reviews but both good ones. This either means she hasn’t had too many upset clients or she hasn’t been around a long time or something else??

Now I am left with this huge decision and really only their names to decide from. Wish me luck.
