Diagnosis to Recovery

Back to Austin

It has been a month – bad blogger 😉

The port removal was interesting – they were so worried about all of my medical issues that they would only use local anesthesia and made me stay awake.  Needless to say I would not wish being awake and watching people cut into you while you can feel it on anyone.  But since the port came out I have gone back to IV antibiotics by way peripheral IV.  I am so glad they are comfortable with me continuing IV for at least a little while longer because the intramuscular injections sound awful.

We have moved out of Baltimore and are in transition over the holiday back to Austin.  The doctors said that I could continue treatment in Austin so we let our lease run out.  The day before we left (last week) I find out there has been some issues with the medication getting to me in Austin.  So now I am in between states without any medication – what a mess.

This journey has not been easy at any point, any time a complication has had a chance – it has happened .  Sometimes it is very difficult to look forward and hope but then I see a glimpse of getting better and it makes it all worth it.  A couple weeks ago I took my friend to DC and we walked around the Newseum and all over the mall.  That sentence doesn’t mean much to most people but for those that have watched me struggle the last couple years or have struggled with lyme themselves – know this was nothing short of a dream a couple months ago.

Wish me luck transitioning back to Austin – I will need it!
